The curtains will open to show Baltimore resident Tracy Turnblad, the plucky, plus-sized teenage girl that has wishes and a soul that are bigger than her her dress size.

The show begins - It is 1962 and Tracy has dreams of appearing on the local TV dance show, The Corny Collins Show, but is met with no, it won’t happen. Yet, Tracy proves people wrong and after getting a role in the show with her spunky boldness and groovy moves and becoming a celebrity overnight. But she realizes that there are injustices in her hometown that she won’t stand by. What will transpire when Tracy and her pals and family stand up to the injustices in their hometown?
